As e-commerce entrepreneurs, your first bait for your customers is graphics. The design of your website, the colours of your logo and the font of your brand name, everything matters. What matters most are the display images of your products!
You probably know all these things. So why all the jargon?
It is simply to stress that the quality of your image makes a lot of difference to the purchase. And quality is a reflection of the image format you choose.

Most digital cameras use this format; hence the everyday images you click are essentially .jpg. So, if your site is something like OLX, where users are going to upload images, you need to use this format. It is also the format that suits the internet. In case you have something really great in PNG and it refuses to get uploaded, you will probably need to convert it into JPG. Photographs and realistic images fit most appropriately in this format.

PNG is very useful for line drawings and especially text. So your content can safely rest without the fear of being directly copied.

The drawback of PNG is that is does not support non-RGB colour spaces like CMYK.
JPG, as we saw, is a compromise on quality.
But both serve in different cases to an online store. An e-commerce store owner should make their fitting and fruitful use.
