As per Wikipedia definition,
“Freemium is a pricing strategy by which a product or service (typically a digital offering such as software, media, games or web services) is provided free of charge, but money (premium) is charged for proprietary features, functionality, or virtual goods.
Some of the examples may be Android or iPhone Apps with in-app purchases for upgrades and unlocks.
Here I am going to suggest, why moving away from Premium to Freemium is good, and why it works!
What other Internet Gurus are doing?
Before I go ahead, take a look at what multimillionaire Information Products Marketer, Eben Pagan has to say.
Eben also stresses on building “massive” value and giving away your best products for free. And he is definitely not the only only. If you take a look at Neil Patel, his most of the excellent stuff is available for free, especially the QuickSprout Tool and the Online Marketing guides.
Yes, in the brave new world of online marketing and eCommerce, best things are for free. But that doesn’t mean that the give always should be measly 20 page reports that are of not much use for anyone.
Why Freemium or moving the free line works?
In his famous book Influence, Dr. Robert Cialdini talks about the power of persuasion and reciprocity is one of the factors that causes the people to repay back when a favor is done on them. In other words, people feel obligated to give something back, when they receive.
Second reason is moving the free also builds expectations about the premium product, where the consumers ask themselves, “if this stuff that is available to me for free, how great must the premium product be?”
Thus consumers feel both excited as well as indebted to buy when they have received massive value in form of a freebie. It is the old rule of Give and Take at play.
That being said, We at Avactis also believe in adding “Massive Value” to our customers by extending the free line. Have you tried our fully featured Avactis Shopping Cart yet? You can download it now, absolutely FREE!
