Hello Strangers,
I have never used the newletter feature of my Avactis cart but I will be adding thousands of issues to my site and I would like to email all my customers to let them know.

Is it possible to send a newletter to all my customers in my database?

If so can someone please tell me how to do it.

Ron

The first link looks the most simple but I don't see where you chose your customers? or does the newsletter go out to everyone in your database when you click send?

Thanks
Ron

See: http://docs.avactis.com/191/index.html?man...bscriptions.htm

This list should automatically be built when people agree to receive your newsletter. If you haven't had your clients agree to receiving emails though, be very careful regarding SPAM laws in your country. I cannot give you advice on that as it is a legal issue.

I looked at my customer database and I can't see where if a customer agreed or disagreed to receive a newsletter from me, so I guess that means that I will not know who or how many get the newsletter, correct?

Thanks

That means you didn't have that option on and part of your map.ini file (this is on by default though so you must have switched it off), but if you have no people listed in the newsletter subscription area, you would have to build the list by hand from your database, and to repeat, you would then have potential legal issues in regard to SPAM as they haven't legally agreed to receive information from you.

OK, like I said I have never once used the newsletter feature so most everything you are saying or showing me looks strange. I know I didn't disable anything that was default I only enabled the things I needed. When in admin can I check to see if the customer subscription is enabled and if it is does that mean anyone who every bought from me is in that list or only those who registered. I have my cart set so they don't have to register but I do have all the email address' of those who ordered from me.

Like I said I have never used newsletters in my cart so forgive my lack of knowledge.

Thanks
Ron

OK, if you've left it all default, if you click on MARKETING tab and then Manage Subscriptions, there will be two default topics called Special Offers and New Products, so if you've left it all default then they will be there, then click on each of those topics and you will see all of the people who've subscribed to each of those newsletters.

If you've left it defaults then you will have the Subscribe box on your shop front with those two topics listed and people can tick them and sign up there or on checkout, they can also sign up.

If no-one is listed there, then at some stage that has been switched off in your map.ini file or you've custom built I am guessing.

Again, if no one is listed, you would probably be breaking SPAM laws in your country by simply using your customer base email lists unless you have specified in some agreement you have with them that by becoming a customer they agree to being sent marketing emails.

I do not have Manage Subscriptions under my marketing tab, I'm running 1.8.2 maybe that is why???

Um, yes! Might be worth mentioning in your profile or questions when you type them up. Could have saved a lot of typing there!

You will have to use http://www.avactis.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4876 instead, but you may have to alter the code for 1.8.2. Again, you are going to have the issue of opt-in and SPAM even for your customers. Please read up on your legal obligations in your country.

I'm sorry for wasting your time I maybe should have mentioned what version I have, As well when you try to help someone if the version is important I wouldn't assume I would ask.

Sorry once again

Ron
